Folkdraw Club - Hebden Bridge Drink, 21st July
🖊️ Folkdraw Club – Storytelling & Drawing
Date/Time: Tuesday 21st July, 6.30-8.30pm
Location: Drink (1st Floor), 15 Market St, Hebden Bridge HX7 6EU
Join us for Folkdraw Club, a monthly storytelling and drawing meet-up!
Each month, we gather to read a short folk tale, explore its themes through guided drawing exercises, and create our own illustrations inspired by the story.
July’s theme: The tradition of Rushbearing: a centuries-old custom rooted in the days when church floors were bare earth or flagstones, when fresh rushes were strewn across them to provide warmth, comfort, and cleanliness. This developed to the rushes being carried in a magnificent rush cart, creating a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together in celebration and merriment.
📖 The story will be read at the beginning of the session, and copies will be available for reference.
🎨 Basic drawing materials are provided, though you’re very welcome to bring your favourite supplies along.
🎟 Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended (£5 per person, including materials and facilitation).
No experience is necessary. Folkdraw is a relaxed, welcoming social space to doodle, experiment, and enjoy creating strange and fantastical imagery together.
Accessibility is important to us, so please don’t let cost be a barrier. If needed, feel free to get in touch.
